DZEM bags 2 KBP Golden Dove Awards
DZEM won two Golden Dove awards in the recently concluded 20th KBP Golden Dove Awards held on October 26, 2011 at the Star Theatre, Star City Complex in Pasay City.
The Ouick Access (QA) program bagged the Best Documentary Program for radio while Radyo Eskuwela bested other programs as the Best Radio Children's program.
With the Quick Access entry, “BAKAW: Batang magnanakaw”, which exposed the dire condition of the children at the Navotas Fish Port caught stealing fish for them to survive, the program was adjudged winner.
This program first won in the same category in 2009. It's entry then was entitled “Limos and Drugs”, delving on the sad plight of children thrown into begging and pushed to prohibited drugs.
Radyo Eskwela was formerly Kaalamang Musmos, which bagged the Best Children's program for radio in the KBP Golden Dove Awards in 1991. Now, being able to preserve the original purpose of educating children on air, it has meritted this year's Golden Dove Award for Best Children's Program.
The Golden Dove Awards are given out yearly by KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas or Association of Broadcasters of the Philippines). It is the most prestigious award-giving body in the country that recognizes valuable and exemplary contributions and outstanding achievements in the broadcast industry.
Quick Access airs every Saturday at 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. while Radyo Eskuwela airs Monday to Friday at 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Brother Wally Tarray, DZEM Station Manager, together with other representatives of the station, accepted the awards on behalf of DZEM. The awarding ceremony was attended by known personalities in the broadcast industry whose television networks and radio stations are members of KBP.
